My whole life I've heard that if I looked good, then I would feel comfortable enough to solve any situation that stood in my path.
After going through many important events in my life, and growing as a person, I realized that this was completely false.
When it comes to dressing up, I have come to understand that if you put your focus into choosing pieces of clothing that make you feel beautiful, but also comfortable and confident, you will feel good as you go out into the world.
I still remember wearing super high heels and jeans that were two sizes too small because that's exactly what I was taught to believe would make me feel “beautiful”.
Years passed before I realized that these outfits were not helping me tackle my goals. I was trying to solve my problems by adhering to the unrealistic perspective that I needed to look, or be, beautiful in the eyes of others to be confident enough to be successful. Needless to say, it didn’t work: I was uncomfortable most of the time, and it wasn’t getting me closer to my goals.
